JEE & BEE
Between Mystical Sitar and Mesmerizing Electro
JEE & BEE is a Franco-Indian duo born from the encounter between Joyeeta JEE Sanyal, a virtuoso sitarist from the prestigious Hindustani tradition, and Bernard BEE Margarit, a globe-trotting guitarist and sound creator with numerous international collaborations. Together, they have invented a unique Electro-Indian-Vibe: festive, hypnotic, and resolutely modern.
At the crossroads of raga and organic electro, their universe is a weaving of influences where improvisation and groove intertwine. Each performance is a sensory journey, blending danceable trance, meditative soundscapes, and progressive builds that take audiences on an enchanting and joyful ride.
Trained by some of Calcutta’s greatest masters, JEE embodies the heritage of raga with both intensity and freedom. Praised by The Journal of Music as “one of the best young female sitarists in the world today,” she performs on international stages. Her playing—both rigorous and inspired—captures attention from the very first notes and anchors the duo deeply in the Indian classical tradition.
BEE, described by Guitarist Magazine for “his touch, as sensitive as it is luminous,” has performed across several continents and collaborated with over 200 musicians, from Europe to India, Cuba, Morocco, and Senegal. His hybrid guitar, blending world, jazz, and electro, shapes the arrangements and live beats that fuel the duo’s unique sound.
Their debut album Shankari (2022) was enthusiastically received by both audiences and the press, celebrating the originality of their fusion and the energy of their live performances. If Shankari revealed the freshness of their universe, Fifth Element (2025) confirms their artistic maturity and positions them among the most original references in contemporary world music.
JEE & BEE speak to curious and adventurous listeners, in search of music that is alive, festive, and universal. Their alchemy creates a sonic bridge between cultures, showcasing a creativity that continues to captivate the international music press..
